A Final Bond Checklist Before You Submit to the Obligee

A short, general checklist to work through before an issued bond goes to the Obligee. It is educational guidance only — the Obligee, bidding documents, contract, procurement rules or insurer may impose additional or different requirements.

Direct answer

Run through the items below with the requirement in front of you. Ticking every box does not mean the bond will be accepted by the Obligee — it means you have checked the things most often found wrong.

GENERAL FINAL BOND CHECKLIST

  • Correct Principal — exact legal name, matching the requirement and your corporate documents.
  • Correct Obligee — exact legal name, including the specific office or entity where the requirement identifies one.
  • Correct bond type — the form the requirement actually calls for.
  • Correct underlying project, contract or obligation — identified as the requirement describes it.
  • Bond amount checked against the requirement — the figure, or the basis stated.
  • Validity or duration checked against the requirement — start date, period and any extension mechanism.
  • Required or prescribed bond form checked where applicable — compared against the annexed or specified form.
  • Material names, numbers and dates reviewed — reference numbers, annexes and signatures.
  • Supporting requirement reviewed — the security clause itself, read once more.
  • Final bond checked before submission — side by side with the requirement. See Why You Should Read the Bond Wording Before Submission.
  • Submission instructions and deadline checked — how, to whom, in what form, and by when.

This is a general educational checklist

The applicable Obligee, bidding documents, contract, procurement rules and/or insurer may impose additional or different requirements. This list is not the checklist of any insurer, procuring entity or government body, and it is not a compliance certification.

For procurement-related submissions

Take the submission instructions, permitted forms and deadlines from the applicable bidding documents and the current procurement rules — Republic Act No. 12009 and its applicable IRR with current GPPB issuances. See What Should You Check Before Bid Submission Day?.

What the checklist does not do

  • It does not guarantee acceptance by the Obligee.
  • It does not establish that a submission is responsive, eligible or compliant.
  • It does not guarantee approval or issuance, which rest with the applicable insurer.

Earlier in the process, the General Pre-Submission Checklist covers what to prepare before submitting an inquiry.

Key considerations

Evaluation, underwriting, documentary requirements, terms, premium, approval and issuance remain functions of the applicable insurer or Surety. The Obligee determines and communicates its applicable bond requirement, subject to governing law and rules where applicable. SuretyPH provides information, accepts inquiries, supports document submission, facilitates applications and communicates status; it does not determine legal sufficiency, final bond wording, procurement compliance, acceptance by the Obligee or issuance.

Key takeaway

Work through the general final checklist — parties, bond type, obligation, amount, validity, prescribed form, material details, the security clause, the issued bond and the submission instructions — knowing that it is educational guidance, not a guarantee of acceptance.
